Forex lot size calculator
Forex lot size is the number of lots that loses your chosen share of the account if the stop is hit. Divide your risk amount by stop pips times the pip value of one lot. A 10,000 balance risking 1% with a 20-pip stop and a pip value of 10 per lot gives 100 ÷ 200 = 0.5 lots.

How it is calculated
Risk amount = balance × risk % ÷ 100Lots = risk amount ÷ (stop pips × pip value per lot)1 standard lot = 10 mini lots = 100 micro lots
Worked example
10,000 × 1% = 100 at risk. A 20-pip stop at 10 per pip per lot costs 200 per lot, so 100 ÷ 200 = 0.5 standard lots (5 mini lots).

Questions
Where do I get the pip value per lot?
Use the pip value calculator, or your broker's contract details. It depends on the pair and your account currency.
Does leverage change the lot size?
No. Leverage changes the margin you post, not how much you lose when the stop is hit.
